He was a farmer and lived in "Southbury Woods," (S.E. part of Woodbury.) Was there in 1740, his name being on the petition above mentioned with his father John. He died not many years after marriage.²

In 1747, a deed from his father says: "to my eldest son."¹ He lived in Haddam as a farmer until about 1784, when he moved to Woodbury, Litchfield Co., where in that year he purchased 82 acres of land, consideration £324.²

A deed to him, 1747, says: "to my second son."¹ He went from Haddam to Killingworth, was here in 1789. He was a farmer and considerable land owner.²

Deed, 1752, from father, says: "to my 4th son."¹ He went from Haddam to the S.W. part of Killingworth about 1761. In 1760 he was appointed 2nd lieutenant in th 10th Co., 2nd Regt., and was for some time in active service in 1769. In 1777 he moved to Westbrook, Conn.²

Named in his father's will as his 5th son; we have no more.¹

Nathaniel Towner is 32. Nathaniel Towner in "A Genealogy of the Towner Family."

He was in Haddam as late as 1766, when he sold and conveyed lands there, which he had from his father's estate, and went to New Milford, Conn. where he resided and bought and sold numerous tracts of land, some of them being in Brookfield, Newbury and Woodbury. His name appears in the census of 1790 in Brookfield, and on other records as late as 1792, and so his wife's. He was called Dr. Nathaniel Towner, and whether an M.D. or D.D. is not certain, but the latter is slightly indicated. The census of 1790 shows that then there was in his family one male and two females under 16 years of age.²

When her father moved to Goshen, it seems likely she went with him. After she was married she moved to Waterbury.²

Samuel Towner is 36. Samuel Towner in "A Genealogy of the Towner Family."

A deed was recorded, in 1742, in Waterbury, made by Samuel Towner of Goshen, to his beloved son, Samuel, of Waterbury. No other record of him has been found, and he probably died soon after.¹

David Towner is 37. David Towner in "A Genealogy of the Towner Family."

He, with his brothers Dan and Zacheus, went to New Fairfield from Goshen some time before 1752. The following from the church records of the North Society of that town: "May 23, 1752, Mary Towner, wife of David Towner, was admitted a member by letter from the Church of Christ in Durham."

From the same record David is shown to have been a Congregational minister, and to have officiated there as such for a short time.²
