George Soule came on the "Mayflower" as a servant of Edward Winslow.

George Soule received one acre of land in the 1623 division of land as did Marie Buckett. She is listed as a passenger on the "Anne."

The 22 May 1627 Division of Cattle includes George Sowle, Mary Sowle and Zakariah Sowle.

George Sowle is in the 1633 list of Freemen.

In 1651 Gov. Bradford wrote "But his (Edward Winslow's) man George Sowle is still living, and hath 8 children."

George Soule was in Duxbury as early as 27 Sep 1642 when he was on a Duxbury committee.

On 23 1668 Jul 1668 George Soule, with consent of wife Mary, gave land to Francis Walker "husband to my daughter Elizabeth." On 26 Jan 1668/9 George Soule of Duxbury gave land to daughter Patience Haskall and John Haskall her husband. On 12 March 1668/9 George Soule of Duxbury, husbandman, gave land to daughter Elizabeth, wife of Francis Walker.

The will of George Soule Sr. of Duxberry dated 11 Aug 1677, with codicil dated 20 Sep 1677, and inventory 22 Jan. 1679, gave lands in Dartmouth to sons Nathaniel and "Gorge"; mentions lands in "Middleberry" formerly given to daughters Elizabeth and Patience; names daughters Susanna and Mary; eldest son John to have the remainder of his housing and lands. The codicil warned son John that if he disturbed daughter Patience, then Patience was to have the house and lands at Duxburrow. The account of John Soule mentions "since my mother died which was three yeer the last December."²

Sarah apparently m. (1) ca. 1698 ?? Hilliard, who d. ca 1698-9, perhaps William Hillard (b. 1672/3) or John Hillard (b. 1674/5); both sons of William Hillard, and neither mentioned in father's will made Dec. 1712.¹

Francis West may have lived in Plymouth Colony for up to 20 years, yet he apparently never owned any land. The only records which seem to apply to him are:

The 29 Oct 1668 court records where Philip, the sachem of Pocanokett, requested justice against Francis Wast by Francis taking a gun from one of his men, etc. The case was referred to the Selectmen of Taunton. On 1 Jun 1669 the court ordered Francis Wast pay 30 shillings to the Indians for the hog he took and to return the gun to them. This record would seem to indicate he was living in or near Taunton at this time.

Francis and Susannah may have left Plymouth Colony at the time of King Philip's War or perhaps when George Soule died and left only 12 pence apiece to Susanna and Mary.

In the 6 Sep 1687 tax list of Kingstown RI, Francis Wast Sr., Francis Wast Jr. and Richard Wast were listed with only Francis Sr. being taxed: 2 shillings, 1 pence.

Other than the births of their last 3 children, these seem to be the only surviving records of Francis and Susanna.

The town of Kingstown RI was founded in 1674 (COL. REC. of RI by Bartlett 2:525) so obviously the older children were not born in Kingstown RI.¹

Enumerated on list of Duxbury residents aged 16 to 60 physically able to bear arms in August 1643; married Margaret, possibly daughter of William Ford Sr., who gave widow's bond as administratix of her deceased husband's estate. No known children.¹
